Injured at Work? What You Need to Know

If you were injured at work - we can help!

First thing's first! Call our office or seek emergency attention, if necessary. Then, notify your employer and/or supervisor of the injury and any potential risk to other employees.

Dr. Wilcox is well versed in occupational health Best Practices which have been shown to reduce the potential of disability and return injured workers quicker to work! In fact, our office has been designated as a "Best Practice" office and is a member of the "Center of Occupational Health and Education Alliance of Western Washington"!

Many falls, and sprains can become serious injuries if not treated. If after using first-aid at work and further treatment is needed you should seek a health-care provider, and let them know that you were injured at work.

What information is needed when making your appointment and what to expect at the appointment.

  • We need to know where and when the injury happened. Also the supervisor's name and phone number of who the injury was reported to.

  • If your claim is going to be through the Department of Labor & Industries or is it a self-insured claim.

  • Plan on showing up at least 20 minutes early then the appointment time because of the paperwork that needs to be filled out.

  • If you are new to Family Chiropractic, expect your appointment to be 30/45 minutes this includes the paperwork you will need to fill out.  If you are a returning patient plan on a 20/30 minute appointment, including paperwork.

  • The provider will talk with you and examine your injuries.

  • The provider will certify whether your injury is work related.

  • The provider will work with you to decide when you can return to work.

  • Recommend further treatment if needed. If provider suggests massages therapy, it is available in our office as well.
